then tick all of the Subscribe boxes.

Even with the user interface bigosity for importing OPML in gPodder it's still pretty simple and beats typing a list of RSS URLs. With regard to OOXML, this is a neat illustration of the value to consumers of a single widely-used standard.

For those interested in the reasons for the move, gPodder has easy synchronisation with file-system style MP3 players.

Conn and Hal Iggulden.

Oh dear, I've got a girl. And she is interested in tools and knots and other things in this book. But she'll never read it because the authors of this wonderful text gave it a sexist title. Unthinking pigs.

The authors ask where this sort of adventure is found in the modern world. The Guides spring to mind :-)

Arthur Ransome. 1930.

Children have adventures. Great read. Further books in the series lapse into conventionality, especially in their attitudes to what girls can do.

Some bands get played to death. I grew up in country NSW. Country AM radio is dire, I think they only had ten records. Fleetwood Mac was one of those bands. Ugh.

Of course I have been living in Semaphore for years now, well away from country radio. I was just listening to Old Fart radio (ABC local radio), practicing for retirement, when they played Fleetwood Mac. And, like stout Cortez on a peak in Darien, I realised that Fleetwood Mac are an astonishing group, not a crap band at all.

I'm not expecting the same discovery should I re-encounter Supertramp one day.
